For the front door, we always want to choose a wreath design that will display an extended warm welcome to the one outside. A wreath that says welcome to my home is as good as any warm embrace. So for you non-huggy people, this would be a good way for you to extend your arms and embrace those who enter your home without touching anyone.
How do we choose a design that will best communicate the message you want to give to your visitors? You start with yourself. What are your favorite seasonal colors? What kind of textures do you like? Do you like a full embodied look or a more simple design with wooden characters? If you think about it, the design you choose will say something more about you and your home than just extending a warm welcome to your visitors. Most people will choose a wreath that displays the softer side of themselves without even knowing it.
Myself, I love what nature offers. The colors and the textures that have been given to all of us, makes my heart soar like the breezes that race over the hilly meadows. Bringing the beauty of nature inside is what best exemplifies me. Then I choose my favorite colors for the season at hand. You want to pick colors and textures that will compliment the themes your interior decor is based on. If you don't do design themes inside your home and more eclectic, then the choices are greater in number. Remember, your home expresses you whether it's all color coordinated or it's eclectic and comfortable, that's the wreath design you want.
Choosing a wreath for the front door is different than choosing one for the kitchen wall or the family room. Is your front door covered or protected from weather elements like wind and rain or snow? These are important questions because you don't want to buy a quality wreath and have it destroyed before it's had time to welcome your friends and family.
Dried flowers do not do well outside in the weather elements. You want to keep these out of the moisture, wind and heat. Cool dry places are best for dried flower wreaths. Eucalyptus comes in so many colors but they are usually dyed. If a dyed eucalyptus gets wet the colors will bleed. Silks are best for exterior use.
